Brett Kimmorley is currently a driving force behind the Bulldogs resurgence from wooden spooners last year to premiership forces this year. The little halfback, nicknamed Noddy, is one of the NRL’s great survivors and most respected figures playing 16 seasons in the toughest competition in the world despite his small stature. Kimmorley has played for the Newcastle Knights, Hunter Mariners in Super League, the Melbourne Storm, Northern Eagles Cronulla Sharks and the Bulldogs and has been an influential player at every club. He won a historic premiership with Melbourne in 1999, winning the Clive Churchill Medal as the best player on ground in the dramatic 20-18 win over St George Illawarra. He has played almost 300 NRL games, and proved he still has what it takes to succeed at the game’s highest level being picked at halfback and helping NSW stave off a series whitewash in this year’s State of Origin series. Kimmorley has played 20 Tests for Australia and 9 Games for NSW. Away from football, Kimmorley loves nothing more than going camping with wife Sharnie and three girls, and spending match days relaxed taking his girls to netball.

What is your favourite activity with the kids?
We love to do everything together, I actually went to Hannha Montana the other day with the girls – I was the only father, it was very funny…I also like it over the summer when the girls play T-Ball, It’s great to get involved in their activities. – Brett Kimmorley

Do they take an active interest in your career?
They do have an interest, it’s quite funny to see Mia (my middle girl) pack may bags before a game. She even goes through the results at the end of the game. The girls see my teammates as their friends – they call Andrew Ryan by his nickname ‘Bobcat’, its always amusing to see how involved they are, they are part of the team! – Brett Kimmorley

How often do you talk to the kids when you are on an away trip?
I ring the kids and Sharnie a few times a day when I’m away. – Brett Kimmorley

Have you ever been asked to attend their school for "news"?
I have talked at the girl’s school before. I always make sure I attend school when the girls are receiving awards at assembly or school musicals – I try to never miss a highlight of their lives. – Brett Kimmorley
